Þorsteinn beer by Hlynur Ingólfsson

Love this beer brand concept. I think the single colour graphics work so well because they go against the general trend in beer bottles designs, which mostly use full colour illustrations.

True Blood Season 5 Poster
Love this new teaser poster using a bloody twist on ‘gimme five’. I like that they haven’t included the name of the series the poster is advertising, as the image is strong enough by itself.

iPhone Business Cards
Cool idea and I think they look great, but would have looked even better with rounded corners.

Love this packaging for Help Remedies by Pearlfisher. Such a great and simple concept to use the actual problem as the title, rather than just a brand name or medicinal term which is often not very helpful.

I really like these new business cards which are part of Shutterstock’s latest rebrand. The idea behind the ‘o’ apparently, is that it frames the opportunity by being either a viewfinder, or a window to an endless source of inspiration. Sounds like what we’ve all been waiting for!
The way the ‘o’ cut-out actually imitates this hypothetic use on the business card is why I like them. Anything that breaks the mould of the standard business card is great to get someones attention.

New logo for Amsterdam’s famous Stedelijk Museum

(The bottom one)

I visited this museum which houses mainly contemporary art and design, back in 2006 during my time in the Netherlands on an international exchange. I really liked the logo and general branding of the museum and felt it very much matched the culture of Dutch design and their strong grasp of typography.

The new logo is definitely a departure from the previous one, which may take a bit of getting used to, but credit for taking a risk! It is very memorable and it will be interesting to see how they use this style throughout the branding. However, I also think it comes across as quite plain and a little awkward in regards to the individual letters and spacing. Given time though I reckon people will like it and it’ll become the strong identity they will be hoping for!

Outstanding design for a range of wines in Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize. Such a great clever concept that also raises a smile! It’s brilliant because it works by unifying the brand and also gives each wine it’s own personality and identity.
